Cracovia could see a summer transfer battle for their standout defender, Oskar Wojcik. Scottish giants Celtic, who previously failed in a January bid to sign the 22-year-old, are reportedly set to reignite their interest ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Wojcik, standing at 6 ft 3 in tall, has been a revelation for Cracovia this season, establishing himself as a mainstay in their backline. He has operated effectively as a central defender on both sides in both a back three and a back four for the Ekstraklasa side.
According to Goal.pl, Celtic submitted a bid exceeding €4 million (approximately £3.4 million) in the final days of the winter transfer window. The deal did not materialise due to other players being sold by Cracovia, as well as a significant gap in valuation between the clubs.
Despite the January setback, securing a central defender remains a top priority for “The Hoops” this summer. If Celtic are to reignite their pursuit of Wojcik, they will face stiff competition, with several Serie A clubs also closely monitoring the Polish talent's situation.
Following their unsuccessful attempt to sign Wojcik, Celtic eventually completed the signing of Benjamin Arthur on loan from Brentford before the window closed. The 20-year-old Arthur has largely served as a back-up, with Liam Scales and Auston Trusty remaining manager Martin O’Neill’s first-choice central defensive pairing.
